For the past four weeks, we have witnessed the obstinacy of Senate Democrats on the Judiciary Committee who refused to hear and give “advice and consent” regarding the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh for the vacant seat on the Supreme Court, but showed their intention to simply #resist.
They didn’t even try to hide the fact that they would obstruct ANY nominee of the Trump administration. Before the nomination was announced, Democrat/Leftist activist groups went so far as designing protest signs, emails and social media posts with a blank where the name could later be inserted, once it was known.
So, while it doesn’t do any good to him and his family, we know that the smears on Kavanaugh’s character of the last two weeks had nothing whatever to do with him. These accusations would have been brought forward no matter who the nominee had been. The lack of corroboration of ALL the allegations proves that it was nothing but a smear campaign in which the Democrats on the committee were complicit.
So, the question is, are there any Democrats left who believe in democracy? The reason they are so intent on preventing a conservative (meaning strict constructionist) on the high court is because Democrats have for years been putting their policies into place by judiciary fiat, rather than through the ballot box. Many of them see the courts as the only way to enact leftist ideas, having given up winning hearts and minds.
Over the past 10 years, since the inauguration of Barack Obama, Democrats lost 1000 seats at the state and Federal levels. Their democratic strength has been decimated, but they had already given up on winning hearts and minds and decided that they must accomplish their goals through judicial dictates.
In other words, dictatorship.
This is evident by the employment and encouragement of mob rule on the part of Democrat politicians like Maxine Waters and Corey Booker. Democrat activists pay busloads of people to threaten and intimidate politicians and even private citizens with whom they disagree. It is only a matter of time until someone is hurt or killed.
These are precisely the tactics employed by Nazi Brown Shirts in the years leading up to World War II. One of the great ironies of our time is that there is no one more Fascist than Antifa (which supposedly mean “anti-fascist”).
If Democrats still believed in democracy, they would use rhetoric and logic to persuade those who don’t agree with them, but instead they have declared everyone who does not see eye-to-eye on policy as not just wrong, but evil. That gives them permission to use any tactic, including gunning down Republican lawmakers at a baseball practice, shouting them down in elevators and driving them out of restaurants.
In this approach, there is no appeal to logic, no attempt to persuade and no respect for democratic processes.
The biggest casualty of the Kavanaugh debacle was the principle of “innocent until proven guilty.” Those opposed to his confirmation tried to say that the principle was irrelevant because the hearings were not a trial, but that fact was they had thrown out all principles of Western Civilization, fairness and logic in favor of the emotionalism and violence of the mob.
That is why Kavanaugh MUST be confirmed. The tactics employed by the Left will destroy our society if unchecked. They cannot be allowed to succeed.
