Prolific Hollywood Producer Harvey Weinstein’s rant about the NRA this week reminded me of what I’ve said before: that Leftists don’t understand irony.
Talking about the need for increased gun control, he mentioned a new anti-gun movie he’s working on and said the NRA would “wish they weren’t alive” after he got through with them. You’d think that it would have occurred to him to temper his remarks, since his filmography includes such bloodfests as Django Unchained, Sin City, Inglorious Basterds, Kill Bill Vol. 2, and Rambo(!), to name just a few.
But that’s not how Hollywood people, or anyone on the Left, thinks. You see, movies, TV and video games that glorify violence with hundreds of people being gunned down CAN’T be responsible for creating a culture of violence that results in loner kids shooting up their schools, it must be the NRA, the organization that teaches responsible gun ownership, self-defense, and safety to law-abiding citizens.
Right.
After all, movies, TV and video games are created mostly by Leftists and the NRA is mostly REPUBLICAN, so it has to be their fault. That’s how Leftists in Hollywood think. Never mind that it is hugely hypocritical and nonsensical.
